 Facebook:Facebook is a social networking company. An American company providing online social services. It was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg (lead developer), Eduardo Severin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, all of whom are


Harvard University graduates. Membership was initially limited to Harvard students, but was expanded in 2006 to include anyone over the age of 13. Site users can create profiles and upload photos, videos, events, books and more, and mark their approval of content with a like button. Facebook has many components, including a news feed that notifies users of changes to their friends' profiles and statuses. Access to Facebook is free - the company makes most of its money from advertising - and privacy is a constant concern. With 845 million users at the end of 2011, Facebook became the world's largest social network. The following year, Facebook's initial public offering (IPO) raised $16 billion.
