  Biography of Bill Gates   He was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He attended Lakeside School and showed an early aptitude for computers. In 1973 he enrolled at Harvard University but dropped out two years later to pursue his own business ventures. His first company Traf-O-Data launched in 1975 and provided traffic analysis systems to local governments. This experience gave him the confidence to launch Microsoft with Paul Allen in 1976 which quickly became a success as it developed operating software for personal computers that were becoming increasingly popular during this time period.
